The Centre Group includes 22 political parties that share a common value base and idea of man.
THE VALUE OF THE INDIVIDUAL
All our member parties wish to emphasize the value of the individual. All people are different, but everyone is equal. Our goal is to provide everyone with a possibility to succeed in their individual contexts. This requires that people respect one another and are willing to embrace diversity.
RESPONSIBLE FREEDOM
The basic principle of our society is that of “responsible freedom”. Democratic rights, such as the freedom of expression and religion, are fundamental. Another basic principle in our work is that men and women should enjoy equal rights.
CLOSE TO THE CITIZEN
Decentralization and civic engagement are the foundations of all Nordic societies. All decisions should be made as close to the citizens as possible. The young people form the new generation of Nordic cooperation, which is why the Centre Group places special emphasis on cooperation with our youth.
SHARED RESPONSIBILITY
The Centre Group’s opinion is that a functioning market economy together with social responsibility and conservation of the environment form the optimal basis for the initiative and creativity of the individual. The Nordic welfare model is based on the idea that no-one is left alone. We have a shared responsibility to take care of the nature and our environment so that we may pass them on to the future generations.
